Steven K. Tsuchida directed the upcoming romantic comedy film ‘A Tourist’s Guide to Love’. Rachael Leigh Cook, who also started as one of the main characters, and Joel S. Rice served as producers.
The plot revolves around Amanda, a professional in the travel industry and Vietnamese expatriate tour guide Sinh. After an unforeseen breakup from a romantic relationship, Amanda undertakes an undercover mission to gain insight into Vietnam’s tourism sector.
She narrowly makes it into the Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebration and begins to navigate a journey of self-discovery as she falls in love with her tour guide Sinh.
Their adventurous romance includes their decision to hijack a tourist bus in order to experience love and life in unconventional ways.
When is ‘A Tourist’s Guide to Love’ coming out?
The planning of this romantic comedy film was first reported in April 2021 when Variety announced Cook that he will star and produce the film whose screenplay is written by Eirene Donohue based on Cook’s original idea.
Other cast members including Ly were announced to have joined in May 2022. Donohue explained how she decided to set this film about love and life completely in Vietnam since just about all American films that are set in Vietnam are about war and she thinks that it is about time to change the conversation about Vietnam from a war-torn country to a modern healthy one.
That is why the filming of the movie took place in several cities in Vietnam alone. Principal photography began in April 2022. The film is anticipated to be released on Netflix on April 27, 2023.
