The Creed film series is set to return with its 3rd film and also with professional boxer Adonis Creed, portrayed by Michael B. Jordan. After the first two Creed films being directed by Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr.the third film was directed by Jordan himself which marks his directorial debut.
The film will be the ninth installment of the Rocky a series of films that began in 1976 with Sylvester Stallone portraying the character of Robert “Rocky” Balboa for the first time. ‘Creed III’ is the first film in the film series in which Stallone won’t appear as a cast member. He will however be serving as a producer.

The plot of the second sequel film will find Adonis Creed or Donnie flourishing in both family life and boxing career. But when his childhood friend Damian Anderson, known as “Dame”, resurfaces after a long jail sentence, things change.
Dame was himself a boxing prodigy who is now determined to prove himself in the ring. But the confrontation between two former friends becomes more than a fight, even more so since Dame has nothing to lose.

Michael B. Jordan-
American actor Michael B. Jordan will be reprising his leading role as Adonis “Donnie” Creed in the upcoming sequel film. He first appeared in this role in the 2015 film ‘Creed’ and then reprized the role in the 2018 film ‘Creed II’.
His other notable credits include ‘Fruitvale Station‘,’Fantastic Four‘, ‘Fahrenheit 451’, ‘Black Panther‘ etc. He also took part in important roles in the tv series ‘All My Children’, ‘Friday Night Lights’, and ‘Raising Dion’.
Tessa Thompson-

The character of Donnie’s love interest Bianca Taylor who is an aspiring musician suffering from progressive hearing loss will be reprised by American actress Tessa Thompson from the first two films ‘Creed’ and ‘Creed II’.
Her other film credits include ‘Damned Mississippi‘,’For Colored Girls‘,’Dear White People‘, ‘Selma’, ‘Sylvie’s Love’, ‘Passing’ etc. Thompson also starred in leading roles in the tv series ‘Veronica Mars’, ‘Hidden Palms’, ‘Copper’, and ‘Westworld‘. Thompson won a Primetime Emmy and a BAFTA nomination.
Jonathan Majors-
American actor Jonathan Majors has been cast as Creed’s former friend and now rival Damian “Dame” Anderson in the upcoming film. His other credits include ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco‘,’Da 5 Blood‘, ‘The Harder They Fall’ etc.
He also starred in the lead role of Atticus Sampson “Tic” Freeman in the horror drama television series ”Lovecraft country‘.
Wood Harris-

The role of the son of Creed’s father’s former trainer Tony “Little Duke” Evers Jr. he will be reprised by American actor Wood Harris from the previous two films. His other credits include ‘Remember the Titans‘, ‘Train Ride’, ‘Paid in full’, ‘Dirty’, ‘The Heart Specialist‘, ‘Not Easily Broken’, ‘Dough Boys’, ‘Next Day Air’, ‘Ant-Man’, ‘9/11’ etc.
Harris also starred in the tv series ‘The Wire’, ‘The Breaks’, ‘And empire’ and in recurring roles in ‘Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television’ and ‘Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty’ .
Florian Munteanu-

German-born Romanian actor and boxer Florian Munteanu will be reprising from ‘Creed II’ the character of Viktor Drago, Creed’s new rival and son of Ivan Drago who killed Creed’s father in a match boxing exhibition. His other credits include ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ and ‘The Contractor’.
Phylicia Rashad-

The widow of Apollo Creed, Donny’s father, is Mary Anne Creed who adopts Apollo’s illegitimate son, Donny Creed. American actress Phylicia Rashad reprized this role from the previous two films. She also took part in the films ‘A Raisin in the Sun’, ‘For Colored Girls’, ‘Good Deeds’, ‘Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey’, ‘Soul’ etc. Rashad’s television credits include ‘One Life to Live’, ‘The Cosby Show’, ‘Cosby’, ‘Do No Harm’, ‘Empire’, ‘David Makes Man’ etc.
Former British boxer Tony Bellew will be seen reprising his role as “Pretty” Ricky Conlan from the 2015 film ‘Creed’. Other cast members who have just been cast in the upcoming ‘Creed III’ include ‘Selenis Leyva’, ‘Mila Davis-Kents, ‘Thaddeus J. Mixson’, ‘And Canelo Álvarez’.
Next ‘Creed 3’ Release Date:
‘Creed 3’ was confirmed by Jordan to be in development in September 2019. The film was initially scheduled to be released in the United States by United Artists Releasing and internationally by Warner Bros. Pictures on November 23, 2022. But on July 28 the release date was postponed to March 3, 2023.
