Will we see Henry Cavill again in Man of Steel 2? Due to the recent merger of Warner Brothers with Discovery and the takeover of the legendary studio by David Zaslav, the future of DC Films was in turmoil.
However, there were a few gems in DC’s collection that fans latched onto over the previous decade.
Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as Superman, is such a film. Man of Steel is the picture that launched the DCEU as we know it, but it hasn’t gotten a sequel since its premiere in 2013.
However, this appears to be changing. According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC is working on a sequel to Man of Steel 2, with Cavill expected to return. The studio is currently attempting to find a writer.
This is part of a bigger DC story about the future of the franchise, but veteran DC producer Charles Roven is involved, and WB reportedly has a director’s wish list. THR notes that Christopher McQuarrie from Mission: Impossible is on the list.
That’s all we know for now. McQuarrie’s presence is understandable considering his collaboration with Cavill in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. While McQuarrie is currently working on the last two M:I films, Dead Reckoning Parts One and Two, Man of Steel 2 is still in the planning stages.
McQuarrie previously proved he can direct an action-packed blockbuster with M:I, making him an ideal choice to play Superman.
Man of Steel 2 Is In Production.

When Man of Steel was released, it sparked debate amongst fans and critics alike. It was a really Snyder picture that asked, “What if Superman came to our current world?” As a result, it was a darker Superman narrative than popular viewers were used to at the time. Thankfully, the picture received a reconsideration in the following decade.
Cavill’s outstanding performance alone elevated the picture to the status of probably the most sophisticated character studies seen in any contemporary superhero film.
Man of Steel is a top ten comic book movie of all time, thanks to its astonishing action, Hans Zimmer’s epic musical soundtrack, and fantastic antagonists. As a result, this announcement will delight many admirers.
After endless delays, cancellations, and grimly contradictory reports, it appears to be DC fans have been waiting eons for some positive news. This is not only welcome news, but it may be the best DC news a fan could hope for.
While nothing is set in stone at this point, it is reassuring to know that work has begun on a Man of Steel sequel. It looks like Cavill’s Superman will play a very important role in DC’s future under Zaslav.
Black Adam, the next film in the DCEU, will be released this weekend. Since San Diego Comic-Con this summer, actor Dwayne Johnson has been hinting at a possible conflict with Superman.
