Mermaids exist outside of kids’s stories and fantasy novels. Of course, these sea creatures have long been a fantasy theme, but in the 1960s and 1970s, few people dared to modify this concept.

Mermaid Barbara, one of these women, gives her views and experience of life as a professional mermaid in this documentary series. Many more mermaids and mermen will be joining her as we go on.

It starts with Mermaid Sparkles, the first mermaid presented in Wade’s series. She is Arkansas’ first professional mermaid. Her path, however, could have been a more lovely tail and glistening makeup.

First, she needed access to a pool or river to practice properly. Sparkles then met Mermaid Pixi, and the two became sisters—or sea sisters.

The two of them began their adventure by practicing in a small section of a pool graciously provided by a group of people who practice water aerobics.

Che Monique, the next mermaid, is the creator of the Fat Mermaid Society. She is a legendary mermaid who shows that size and color are just excuses, not obstacles.

MerPeople is a documentary series that follows the way of individuals who want to be a mermaid or mermaid—and yes, it’s based on real-life people who are the mainstays of the mermaid business.

And, no, these people haven’t got tails rather than legs or magical abilities.

Mermaiding is distinct from water-related professions. It all comes right down to elegance, delicacy, and the ability to touch your audience through the actions you perform.

Some even call it mermaid modeling, but the purpose of these merpeople is to attract their audience and take them to a realm of fantasy.

Eric Ducharme founded MerTailor, a company that creates and sells mermaid and merman tails. In addition, Ducharme is a talented diver well known for his underwater ballet performances.

Unfortunately, Eric suffers from Tourette’s syndrome. However, he’s adamant about realizing his ideal of building a world for merpeople where they can live full time. For this to occur, he started his mermaid shows.

Morgana Alba, a name that each mermaid and merman reveres is the creator of The Circus Siren Pod, an elite mermaid performance group.

Alba is a professional mermaid who started her career when mermading was not considered legitimate.

She wants to take mermaiding to the next level and assists professional mermaids and mermen to fully embrace the mermaid.

Each of these mermaids and mermen tells their story and helps us enter the world of merpeople in this four-episode docuseries.
