Justin Roiland, the creator of the very prominent animated series, Rick and Morty he’s currently awaiting trial on fairly serious charges. These include crime and domestic violence to name a few. But who opened the case against Justin?

In the Court documents, no name was mentioned about who was bringing the case against Justin. But it must have been written that it was presented by an ex-girlfriend of the creator of Rick and Morty.

The criminal complaint was obtained Thursday by The Associated Press. It was from the prosecutors in Orange County, California. According to the criminal complaint, 42-year-old Mr. Justin Roiland is charged with bodily injury.

That’s not it, the documents also mention the case being held on false imprisonment with threats, fraud, violence, or deception. According to recent updates, Mr. Justin Roiland pleaded not guilty to the same.

Here’s everything you need to know about the case. According to the case documents, the entire incident happened not in 2023 but back in 2020, and Mr. Justin Roiland was charged in May of that same year.

The interesting thing is that the entire case went unnoticed, maybe because covid was the last thing at the time. It came to light afterwards NBC News reported all the news on Thursday. This happened after a pre-trial hearing of the case took place on Thursday itself.

Several media outlets have sent emails to Justin’s attorneys in addition to representatives of Cartoon Network, the channel that airs Rick and Morty. They weren’t answered instantly.

According to several insiders, Justin will return to court for the case in April. Although, a trial date has not been set by the judge yet.

Justin Roiland is the co-creator of Rick and Morty together with Dan Harmon. It is an animated series based on the characters of a mad scientist and his nephew. As of now, there have been six seasons of the popular animated series and it has been renewed for a seventh one that will air on Cartoon Network.
