Season 3 of Trapped: What We Know So Far

Trapped, a mystery drama TV series from Iceland, has already been released in two seasons. The third season of Trapped is in production, but the exact release date has not been revealed.

The total length of Trapped season 1 & 2 is approximately 50 minutes each.

Trapped was produced by Baltasar Komar, Sigurjon Kjartansson and Magnus V. Sigurdsson. It originally aired on RUV, but it’s now available on Netflix, Amazon Prime and other platforms.

Trapped tells the story of Andri Olafsson, the head of police (Olafur Darri Olafsson), who is trying solve the murder of a man in a remote city in Iceland. The body of the man is found mutilated and is identified as a townman. The body is discovered by fishermen in an isolated Icelandic city.

The police must not only solve the mystery of the murder, but also be able to find the case during a stormy weather condition.

Season 3 of Trapped: What We Know So Far

The first season of Trapped was released on September 20, 2015. The second season, which was released three years later, was released on December 26, 2018. With total 18 thousand votes, it received a score of 8.1 out 10 from IMDB. It also gets 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

This feedback is why viewers are eagerly awaiting Trapped season 3. Season two did not provide a conclusive end.

Netflix has picked up Trapped Season 3

Netflix announced they will be acquiring Trapped season 3. It was originally produced by RVK Studios and broadcasts on BBC.

Baltasar Koromakur, one of the producers, said that he was glad Netflix wanted Trapped season 3. Trapped has been the most successful television show in Iceland’s history. Komakur stated that it would be more popular if it was released on Netflix.

Trapped Season 3 Filming

The filming of Trapped season 3 began in September and October 2020 in North Iceland. This is in the middle COVID-19 regulations and health protocols. Iceland is an example of a country that has managed the pandemic well, so film productions can go ahead as planned.

Olafur Darri Olafsson also posted the news about filming on his Instagram account in September 2020.

Filming will take place in Siglufjordur, Hafnarfjordur. This means that Trapped season 3 will feature stunning scenery.

Although the next season is expected to be released in 2021 there have not been any announcements regarding the exact date.

What will Season 3 of Trapped be about?

Hinrika and Andri, the police, get involved to stop a war that threatens to overthrow an island. Two groups fight over the island for different reasons. One group, a peaceful sect, considers the land sacred. The other group of Icelander bikers wants to seize control of the land and calls for support from other bikers.

Soon, the two groups clash so much that Ivar, a young man from Ivar’s hometown, must die. Andri is familiar with Ivar so he and Hinrika work together to solve the problem.

Season 2 of Trapped sees another attack on the minister. Meanwhile, Andri struggles to manage multiple problems simultaneously.

Season 2 was full of intrigues and politics, which will most likely continue in Trapped season 3. The next season will also focus on the challenges that the couple–Andri & Hinrika–will face.

Season 3 of Trapped will continue the story from the previous season. It will be filled with drama, thrills, and revelations.

Who will play in Season 3 of Trapped?

Season 3 will feature the return of cast members from previous seasons. This includes Olafur Darri Olafsson playing Andri Olafsson and Ilmur Kristjansdottir playing Hinrika. Steinn Armann Magnusson is Ketill. Stormur Jon Kormakur Baltasarsson will also be returning in season 3.

Although no official announcement has been made, we expect new faces to join Trapped season 3.
