In Season 1, the majority of our favourite characters died. It is not easy to imagine Squid Game without characters like Park Hae-soo’s Sang-woo & Jung Hoyeon’s Kang Sae-book, but we haven’t any choice.

On June 17, Netflix revealed the Season 2 cast members.

Lee Jung-Jae will reprise his role as Gi-hun, while Lee Byung-hun will resume as the Front Man. We are also excited to see Wi Ha-jun‘s Hwang Jun-ho return. This is a surprise since the last time we saw Jun-ho, he was shot by his brother, Front Man, and had fallen off a cliff.

The video also introduces new players: Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-Geun all hit the green button that means the game is on. We know little about their details but look forward to learning more about them.

The announcement is not over yet. Fans of The Squid Game will be happy to discover that Gong Yoo, who appears briefly in Season 1, is also returning.

What Could be the Plot of Season 2?

Squid Game Season 2

Season 2 will focus on participants working together to share the victory, compared to how things fell apart for everybody in Season 1. The Front Man and how the police allow the Game of -Squid could be the main focus of the second season.

The Squid Game season 1 finale left the door open for a sequel, while many worried that the setting would be drastically different and fewer focused on the actual game.

Gi-hun, the only surviving protagonist, seems to prefer to leave the organization after Squid Game above to continue with his daughter, and is unlikely to voluntarily re-engage in the game, even if tempted by the resident recruiter of Squid Game.

However, dystopian organizations like this will all the time find a way to force acceptance, so Gi-hun’s daughter will be used to lure him back into the game.

Nam, the complex inventor in the Squid Game universe, also appears to be gone, which could result in an even less fair game than before.
