JBL Live Pro 2 is optimal for fitness and sports. They are well made and have an IPX5 rating for resistance to direct water contact. They’re also quite snug, even though they haven’t got stabilizing fins and can fall out of your ear if not fitted properly.

On the plus side, they’ve a battery life of over eight hours. In addition, their carrying bag has three extra chargers, which come in useful quickly.

Design of the JBL Live Pro 2

The JBL Live Pro 2

It would be boring to assume that the JBL Live Pro 2 resembles most other true wireless headphones with a stem. The shiny back of the stem gives a touch of design at a price when function is normally prioritized over looks, but the JBL is a decent mixture of the two. However, the appearance can attract specific fingerprints and smudges.

The buds, which come in four different colours (blue, rose, black, and silver), are quite pleasant to wear for extended periods of time. If the headphones do not fit the first time, three sizes of ear tips are offered.

Price and Availability

The JBL Live Pro 2

The JBL Live Pro 2 will be available in June 2022 for $149.95. We tried the dark blue buds, which look more black under specific settings, but there are also silver, rose (pink) and black options.

At the time of writing, the black earbuds were $99.95 in the UK and US – good news if you cannot justify shelling out more than $100 on a new set.

Features

The JBL Live Pro 2

With all the functions available in the JBL app, you would assume that this was a costlier actual wireless speaker. There is built-in voice support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and both wake phrases are activated for hands-free voice control (Google is quite quick to answer questions).

And it’s a performance that you can tune to your preferences. For example, noise cancellation can be customized via app text. In contrast, Ambient Aware filters general surrounding sounds (the amount can be adjusted in the app).

Finally, the TalkThru mode trains the microphones on voices so that the wearer can continue a conversation without removing the earbuds. Both ways provide constant clarity and improved awareness.

Sound Quality

The JBL Live Pro 2

The good quality provided by these buds is superb for the price. Straight out of the box, there’s decent balance across the range and a fairly expansive soundstage – particularly when the volume is turned up high.

They handle the bass well, and the voices are often evident. There was some detail here, but it needs to be on pace with best-in-class buds, like the Apple AirPods Pro 2. As much as we love the sound here, we believe audiophiles prefer greater clarity and detail, a bigger soundstage, and a deeper sound.

However, many people will be pleased with these buds, particularly because you can customise the sound and create your own presets.

Conclusion

In nearly every respect, the JBL Live Pro 2 true wireless earbuds outperform their competition. The noise cancellation is highly effective and adjustable, making it ideal for busy, noisy workplaces and travel.

The sound is superb, the EQ customization is astounding, and while the call quality could be better, most people will not notice until they make lots of calls regularly.
