Game of Thrones might be one of the most iconic TV shows of all time. The cinematic portrayal of George RR Martin’s epic fantasy thriller, loosely based in part on the Wars of Roses of the middle fifteenth century, was a huge hit with us. The series was set in realistic settings and featured a strong plot about the civil war between feudal Kingdoms. The careful use of magic and dragons made it a great entertainer.
The Game of Thrones creators are known for their unapologetic depiction of explicit and vulgar scenes and for the gory details. They were also praised for their acting, casting, story development, and makeup. Its success earned it a lot of awards, including the Primetime Emmy awards as well as the BAFTAs.
The rushed-up finale of the last season was a negative mark that would tarnish the integrity of the show. This led to a backlash from dissatisfied fans. Even petitions were created to remake the final season because of the discontent generated by the finale.
There is a fair chance of redemption. A promising one, too. The ever-growing fan base has rekindled the flame with the release of the short teaser of HBO’s GoT prequel series House of the Dragon on October 5. Principal photography began in April 2021 and casting began in July 2020. The premiere of the first season, which will consist of 10 episodes, is set for January 1, 2022.
“Gods and Kings, Fire and Blood”
The trailer opens with the speaker saying the following words. There are also glimpses of a few of the main characters: Otto Hightower holding the Hand of the King pin and King Viserys I sitting on a chair on a throne. A young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Prince Daemon Targaryen as well as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen at a beach. Additional glimpses include Targaryens fighting, a Targaryen banquet room and Otto’s daughter Alicent Hightower.
The trailer ends with the chilling words “Dreams didn’t make us Kings. Dragons did”. As we see a Targaryen woman walking to the Iron Trinket, the trailer ends. We see a different throne than we remember. It is grittier and has more pointed swords. This suggests that the throne was made to match George RR Martin’s original description.
Martin’s 2018 novel Fire and Blood is the basis for the prequel series. The plot is set 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones. It begins with Viserys, the great great grandson of Aegon Targaryen and the first conqueror of all seven Westeros kingdoms.
The reign of Viserys is associated with the civil strife of the Targaryens. This period is known as the “Dance of the Dragons”. This series documents the events that led up to the war, which is believed to have marked the beginning of the end for House Targaryen.
