It’s been 34 years since the original Beetlejuice hit theaters, and since then there’s been talk of a sequel. However, the rumors have picked up again with statements that Johnny Depp will allegedly be cast in Beetlejuice 2 together with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder.
Rumors of the potential cast surfaced after Google listed the actor amongst the actors in the film. The IMDb page for Beetlejuice 2 has also been updated to include a potential 2015 release in addition to an unconfirmed synopsis.
According to an unverified IMDb site, the upcoming sequel to the Halloween classic will feature the original cast and crew in addition to new additions. As reported by MovieWeb, the original cast and crew will return for the new sequel together with new additions as Keaton and Ryder will reportedly reprise their roles for the sequel.
Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, is also said to be in control of producing the film, which is claimed to begin filming this summer.
Beetlejuice 2 Synopsis

According to the IMDb synopsis, in Beetlejuice 2, “Beetlejuice finds himself homeless in the underworld” and returns to the mortal world to seek solace, only to find that the Maitland house has been destroyed. However, things take a different turn when he learns that “The Jersey Devil is his lost son (Will Arnett).
The synopsis also states that “Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) is smitten with the Jersey Devil charm despite being married to a struggling real estate agent (David Harbour). Through spooky scenarios and ecstatic characters, the fun never ends.
Although it is fun, it is also a heartwarming story that shows that Beetlejuice is just another guy trying to find his way in the world. The story also develops the idea that the family is never really ideal.’
The original Beetlejuice

Before the upcoming sequel, the original Beetlejuice stars Keaton and Ryder alongside Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, and Jeffrey Jones. The film was so successful that it spawned a number of spin-offs including an animated series, a handful of video games, and a Broadway musical.
In the original 1988 Beetlejuice, the house’s new owners, the Deetzes (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones), hire a “bio-exorcist” named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to exorcise the ghosts of couple Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec) who have just died. Baldwin and Geena Davis).
A pair of ghosts initially owned Maitland House and tried to scare the new owners into leaving their home.
However, Beetlejuice causes even more trouble for the dead couple and the new owners. Although no official announcements have been made yet, it seems very likely that Beetlejuice 2 is on the way.
